Basics

To ensure the safety and quality of our products, we ship via FedEx and UPS. If you are a local customer of Olde Colony Bakery or are traveling to town for a wedding/event, you can order online and choose local pick up at the store for free. We ship all ground orders by UPS and FedEx and recommend expedited orders by UPS. We calculate the shipping  based on your ZIP code (distance from us to you), package weight, and the current UPS and FedEx rates. We only charge you what they charge to ship, we do not add any additional fees or handling charges.

Baking and handling time

Shipping time does not include our baking and handling time. In most cases, we ship within 24 hours. However, we do not ship on the weekend and we may hold shipment if we need to bake more product for your order. We always try to make sure what we send you is as fresh as possible. So to be sure you receive your package in time, please give us 2-3 additional weekdays, in addition to shipping, to guarantee delivery. If your order is urgent, please call us. We’ll do everything we can to accommodate your request.

Shipping slow?

We do everything we can to ship your package as soon as possible. However, once FedEx or UPS pick up your package, we can’t do anything to expedite their procedures. We have had some issues with our most economical option, FedEx/USPS SmartPost and UPS/USPS SurePost. While FedEx and UPS are excellent carriers who ship packages quickly, we have found the USPS part to be slow and unreliable on shipping time estimates. If you have a time sensitive order, we recommend you pay a few dollars more and choose UPS Ground or FedEx Home Delivery.

Delays?

Sometimes weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ve all been there right? While we do everything we can to make sure the package gets to the delivery service, we can’t control what they do with the package from there. Most of the time UPS and FedEx are very upfront about any service delays, including weather. due to mother nature or other unforeseen circumstances. We apologize if service disruptions delay your package, we’ve all been in that situation before. Also, we have had times when UPS and FedEx struggle to locate an address, typically because of an unusual circumstance. We’ll work with them best we can but we also may need you to call them to help them find your correct address. Technology isn’t perfect, we all know that after using an in car directions program and it clearly has the instructions wrong!
